Acceptable Donations

Cash, securities, real estate and planned gifts – Gifts of cash, securities (stocks and bonds), land, planned gifts (life insurance designation, bequests and IRA 70 1/2 disbursements may be made outright or in installments up to five years.

Life insurance and qualified retirement plan assets – Contributors may transfer life insurance policies to the Greater Iowa City Area Student Scholarships Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Johnson County as owner and beneficiary, or name the Greater Iowa City Area Student Scholarships Endowment Fund at CFJC as the primary or secondary beneficiary under qualified retirement plans.

Planned gifts – In large part, the present Greater Iowa City Area Student Scholarships Endowment Fund has been built with generous estate gifts including: Bequests by will, Charitable gift annuities and Charitable remainder trusts.

Contributions to Greater Iowa City Area Student Scholarships through the Community Foundation of Johnson County may also qualify for an Endow Iowa Tax Credit. Corporations and individuals ($100,000 for individuals and $200,000 for couples) may apply (on a first-come, first-serve basis) for a possible 25% tax credit against each year’s Iowa state income taxes in addition to a normal federal charitable income tax deduction for charitable gifts.
